Negative bytes & KB/Sec on download?!

Post by RuralTurtle »

I'm trying to download a Linux ISO, but couple hours into the download Firefox starts showing a negative byte count. Anyone know why this is? I've tried it several times now.

How large is that file and with which download size does it begin to show negative numbers?
I don't think that the display of those numbers is important.
Is the file ok if you wait until the download finishes?

Thanks for the reply. The file is approx. 3.5 GB and I'm on a very fast connection. I am going to let it download to completion this time & see what happens. I was thinking something was going to be very wrong w/ the file due to the status msg.

Thanks.

What version of Firefox are you running ? There used to be an old bug when files were in the GB range, but I thought that was fixed while back.

You can ignore the neg numbers, as I recall the download does complete and works.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using 1.0.7. Might be time to upgrade.

1.0.7 is no longer supported and has tons of public security bugs in it

hope it's ok to resurrect this topic seeing as this is an old issue and probably there is no fix for it.

Firefox 8.0 has this issue too, is that normal?! I don't think v7 did this...
in finished Downloads the size is correct.

This can mean only one thing--you're uploading the Linux ISO. Time has been reversed! The future (past) of the Universe is in jeopardy. You've got to stop that download!

Either that or nobody wants to fix that bug in the download counter.

That is a bug caused by the server not sending the file size and that has been fixed.
