@pogiffmoo: What happens instead?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up
@Wookie2: We have never bugs. -> http://www.mozillazine.org/about/
This behaviour can be caused by a hidden firewall (you say you do not have one), another security software (blocking was reported from Norton AV, Kaspersky Antihacker and Spybot (Teatimer ?) ) or some malware.
Which security software do you have?

FOUND IT!
Malliz - nice try - only you were 99% wrong!
I followed the directions on here and EVEN THOUGH MY FIREWALL WAS TURNED OFF, it was [preventing Firefox from working!
Stupid EZtrust FIREWALL and EZtrust Armor were the cause of the problem!
I followed the directions at:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls#eTrust_EZ_Firewall
BINGO - problem solved.
These annoying programs ought to warn you that they are still running
even when they are turned off!

Did EnumProcess at least find your firewall (marked in orange or red)? If not can you give me the results to add them.

As a rule of thumb: As long as the processes are still alive the firewall is on.

even after complete uninstall of Kaspersky and ZA. Clean reinstall of firefox2.0, ff still didnt work. And Kas, ZA havent been reinstalled yet.
But now i finally got it to work. Dont ask me the why, i just write down the steps that helped me.
1. I reinstalled ZA and Kas
2. I copied all my bookmarks, add ons, etc back in my new firefox folder. And installed 2.0 again, just to be sure.
3. Tried to run ff. But didnt connect. Renamed ff.exe to ff1.exe. ff1.exe worked
4. Did the update again with ff1.exe
4.1 Didnt not start up ff after the update
5. A new ff.exe was created after the update
6. Went through ZA and Kas to delete all FF-entries that had been made before.
7. Rebooted, and vola, ff.exe is working again
I dont really understand why. Yesterday, i deleted the firewall entries, and the firewall and Kas itself, , but didnt work.
Today doing it like this it did.
The mysteries of PC.
Anyhow good luck to the rest of you, trying

Did you reboot after ZA/Kaspersky uninstall? I do not know if they can unload the driver at run time?

I was having the same connectivity problems with the 2.0.0.7 update(all the symptoms - all other browsers working etc.) and i did the suggested fix - i renamed firefox.exe to firefox1.exe AND IT WORKED!!!!!!
same success
i pretty much knew it wasn't spyware/firewall/virus because i never download anything(i'm not bsing), i have NO active protections that start up automatically(i have s&d - turned off, superspyware - turned off, and kaspersky - turned off).
forget all that info though - to fix the bug i just renamed firefox so it probably has something to do with firefox instead of my inactive securities. (i have all firewalls turned off in the options of ks on top of ks not even being on)

It was reported from Kaspersky that it can block even if it is disabled. The only sure way to know is uninstalling all of them and rebooting.
If you run the EnumProcess tool do you see processes which belongs to Kaspersky?
