You have a problem with a Firefox 3.1 test version. This (old) thread is about a problem with Firefox 2, so you need to ask your question on the [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23|Firefox Builds]Y2PBBFV wrote:still didnt work for me

You need to register if you want to post on that forum.

Thank you so much for those pictures! I didn't know I had a 'firefox' volume. It solved this problem after trying many other things.

Re: sound just stopped working in Firefox 2
THANK YOU -that worked for me -here I was reading all this stuff that looked like html craziness for someone that doesn't know what they are doing...and all I had to do was go to my sound and turn up the volume for Firefox!!! Darn that was so easy it's insane nobody else on all the boards even mentioned that. I hope I didn't mess up anything trying to uninstall and install and all the other stuff recommended that didn't work!!!bdb4269 wrote:OK, so the quicktime thing had nothing to do with it.
I have 2 firefox profiles I use (well one I use, and one I hardly use, for anonymous browsing using Tor/the Vidalia Bundle) -- I noticed that sound also did not work in that profile, which has never been updated at all (and definitely not used for weeks before this happened.
Since sound worked in other browsers and other programs, I never checked the windows audio mixer -- but since I knew for sure it was not a corupt profile, I decided to look at the windows mixer.
Normally in XP, you have a master volume and a wave volume (that effects all audio programs that are not midi, or one of those other options.)
In windows Vista, you have a master volume and an applications volume.
BUT -- I had a master volume and an applications volume - AND a firefox Volume, and a Pidgin Volume, and two unlabeled Volumes.

The firefox and one of the unnamed where muted, so I unmuted them, and its all working great now.
Im glad I took that screen shot when I did, because, now when I go into the mixer I only have Master and Application Volumes. The individuals are missing. (Like I opened it back up right after unmuting and closing it and the individual volumes where gone)
This is what it looks like now

I have NO idea how this happened in the first place. I don't even know if its normal at all for windows to display different applications like that. I cant seem to get it to do it again.
O well -- Im just glad it works now!!!
I hope this helps solve someone elses problem --- and/or if anyone has any light to shed on what the deal is with Vista Volume Mixer, Id love to hear it.
