I see all characters except the last one. I already explained why firefox displays the mentioned page wrong.

How can it not be a bug if it worked fine in previous versions?
People judge 2 easy saying "Install this and that it must be YOU computer etc." when absolutely nothing has changed but the Update from 2.x to 3.0.

Yeah, I do see that box symbol with
26
2E

Additionally, I do agree that it was awfully quick to jump and say install the language support pack because if that were the case (which it most certainly isn't) then the problem would have been uniform across the browsers. It's okay though...that's why support forum's exist, to work it out! Remember, it's free!

Hmm, then let me ask it again a little differently

Why does FF2 display it "correctly" ?

What's your default encoding? Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts & Colors -> Advanced

These are Unicode-encoded characters. Try setting it to UTF-8. If not, look if you have a system font with that Unicode panel.

Interesting, that is NOT what I saw at all.

I only saw one box, which was the character after the letter 'n' in muffin.

FWIW, I'm using test builds, this one 3.1a1pre (won't be out till late this year, or early next) but I see none of the rendering issues that has posted on either of
the two links.

I'm also using Vista HP SP1

Please follow the steps I previously posted. You can't view a certain language if support for it isn't installed—no amount of arguing is going to change that. If you previously installed language support, follow the above steps anyway and double-check that it's installed.

Firefox should auto-detect the encoding, as previously indicated. Only the default encoding should be set to "Western (ISO-8859-1)". If that's the case, try starting Firefox in a new profile. Does it work there?

You're using Windows; bugs on Mandriva Linux most likely don't affect you.

1. Install all language support in Windows. See Enabling International Support in Windows XP.
2. In Firefox, go to View > Character Encoding > Auto-detect > Universal.
3. Then go to Tools > Options > Content. Under "Fonts & Colors", click Advanced.
4. Next to "Default character encoding", choose Western (ISO-8859-1)

I did all this and i made a new profile in Firefox and it still doing the same.

Why did it work in FF 2.x?

I'm having the same issue, since upgrading to FF 3.0.
No problem with FF 2.X.

My setting in FF 2.X is Character Encoding: Unicode (UTF 8)
Auto-Detect Off
I don't remember the default setting in FF 3.0, since I downgraded to 2.X.

In that case, check your system for corrupt fonts using FontDoctor or FontExpert. Does either one display any errors?

Since you followed the steps I indicated and tried starting Firefox 3 in a new profile, the only cause I can think of is either a corrupt font or a bug in Firefox 3 that manifests itself in your installation, but not others.
