When I browse in firefox and I view certain media (like wmv), firefox crashes with this error, not really sure what is causing it and I scanned my computer with kaspersky and Ad aware to see if a virus was the cause.

It is a Microsoft C++ runtime library error r6034, take a look at this, and see if anything in it helps with your problem: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=623181

I bet it's the windoze media player plugin at work. If you type about:plugins to location bar and hit enter, what version do you have? I wonder if it's the latest.

I think you should see the windoze media player plugin version number there. If it's not there, what version of windoze media player do you have? (might be visible in e.g. add/remove or somewhere in wmp) The latest version should be least crashy, dunno if it actually is.

:( SAME IDENTICAL CRASH HERE, CAN'T LOAD ANY MEDIA WITH .WMV EXTENSION. FUNNY THING IS, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER ITS FIREFOX OR INTERNET EXPLORER 7, BOTH INVOKE THE SAME CRASH WITH THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE WINDOW SHOWN IN THE ORIGINATING POST TO THIS THREAD. WATCHING A VIDEO FOR MY SCIENCE CLASS ( http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow ... 2-350.html ) RESULTS IN THIS ANNOYING CRASH. UPDATED WINDOZE MEDIA PLAYER LAST WEEK TO LATEST VERSION BECAUSE MICRO$AFT REPORTED A VULNERABILITY WHERE AN ATTACKER COULD COMPROMISE OR TAKE CONTROL OVER MY PC THROUGH A BUG FOUND IN MEDIA PLAYER. THE NEW "UPDATED" VERSION HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, ITS BEEN MADE WORSE AND NOW DOES NOT WORK AT ALL FOR ANY WMV/WMA MEDIA. THANKFULLY, THERE IS AN ALTERNATE DOWNLOAD LINK ON THE PBS NOVA VIDEO SITE FOR QUICKTIME, WHICH PLAYS FLAWLESSLY AS USUAL. SINCE PATCHING WINDOZE MEDIA PLAYER LAST WEEK FROM MICROSOFT AUTO UPDATE, MY ENTIRE SYSTEM HAS BECOME UNSTABLE. ](*,) CONTEMPLATING ON WIPING XP FOR A STABLE LINUX INSTALL INSTEAD. ANY ADVICE ON WHICH LINUX PAK IS BEST WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!
