tab/window problem between T'bird & Firefox

Hi! Things have changed with the new version, and I don't like it. When I click on a hyperlink in email, I want to open a new window in Firefox. I can force it to do that by telling Firefox to Open a New Window (rather than a new tab). But then, when I'm working strictly in Firefox, I can't go back and forth between windows and URLs, except by using the tabs in the tab bar.

I'd like to go back to the old way. Luddite. Can anybody help?
