You need to export the bookmarks to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup if you need to keep existing bookmarks.
As an alternative you can copy bookmarks that you wish to keep to the clipboard and paste them back afterward. Make sure that you have a HTML backup just in case something goes wrong.
How do I transfer bookmarks stored in a JSON file?

Re: How do I transfer bookmarks stored in a JSON file?
Since Delicious now requires a yahoo ID for an account, I'm trying to recover my bookmarks with tags into firefox (I'll use weave)
I successfully seem to have synced Delicious with Flock, the json file from flock looks fine
When I restore from the file, the Firefox profile adds every tags from delicious, but empty, with no actual bookmarks?

I think everything is said. Locking.
Think for yourself. Otherwise you have to believe what other people tell you.
A society based on individualism is an oxymoron. || Freedom is at first the freedom to starve.
Constitution says: One man, one vote. Supreme court says: One dollar, one vote.
