TBird has blocked a file?

Hello,

I just started running TB 52.0.1 and now, when I reply to messages, I see that "Thunderbird has blocked a file from loading into this message."

I can load the file by clicking on an Options button.

How can I change things to default to loading such files?

A quick search for "Thunderbird has blocked a file from loading into this message." only returns this thread. I'm familiar with it blocking remote content in messages. That is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Privacy_basics_-_Thunderbird . It should not be an issue when composing a reply unless its somehow due to quoting stuff in the message you are replying to.

I'm not aware of it ever blocking a file from loading into a message when composing a reply. I'd normally expect that to be a Windows error message (due to security settings for a file), not a Thunderbird error message. Does the same problem occur if you create a new message rather than a reply?

What exactly did you click on to bypass this? Off the top of my head I can't think of anything in tools -> options that would effect this.
What type of file were you trying to load? An image, HTML, javascript ....?
How were you trying to load it? Copy and paste or ....?

Hi again,

All of my TB emails go out using stationary. Our logo appears at the top, and my sig below. I enter my outgoing message between these two sections.

Now, with the current, and very recently installed V of TB, when I reply to any message, I get the dialog I have described.

The text of the dialog says:

Thunderbird has blocked a file from loading into this message. Unblocking the file will include it in your sent message.

On the far right of the screen there appears a button with the one word Options on it. When I click on the button, it displays "Unblock File" and describes our logo in some coded fashion. If I click to unblock it, the logo appears as it should were in not blocked in the first place.

That is all the information I can provide, but I would certainly like to kill this nuisance.

That rules out it being due to quoting. If you are using a HTML signature is it a separate file that gets loaded by Thunderbird or is the content fully specified in the accounts "signature text" section?

This nuisance caused me to look for an earlier version of TB, but then I came upon this:

IMPORTANT: The way images are included in a compose window has changed. Images are now included as data URIs and not as references to parts of other messages or operating system files. This allows better interoperability with office packages such as MS Office or LibreOffice. Images linked from locations on the internet will no longer be downloaded and attached to the message automatically. This can be changed for each image individually via the Image Properties dialog or globally by setting the preference mail.compose.attach_http_images.

and it seemed to relate to my problem.

I went into the Config Editor, and reset this entry from False to True. I then relaunched TB, but making this Config change seems to have no effect whatever.

Might you have further ideas, or might you point me to an earlier version of TB that will get me back where I was?

I am having this problem as well. We use the program Auto Resizer which reduces the image size to allow multiple images to be sent. This only started happening with recent update. Its a real pain in the as$!

Any ideas whats going on?

Have to manually allow about 6 files every time I want to write an email !!

I had to use this site to convert my image to base 64

Then that base64 text will embed the image in your email...

I just tried the 64 conversion site that you suggested, and thank you for that.

But, I have no understanding of how to use the result of the conversion:

The site apparently changes the logo into pages of code, but what do I do next? That is, how do I take that code, and insert it into an email as my logo?

Hi,

I just experimented further by saving the generated code in Notepad first as Logo.PNG, and then as Logo.JPG.

But I could not open either of those newly created files with Paint.NET.
