TB in Mac Sierra doesn't save address book changes

Working in Mac High Sierra and TB 52.5.2. When I bring up the address book and try to edit an address, TB won't save it--I clock on "save" and nothing happens. Is this a bug? Any solutions? Thanks.

Unlikely.
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

If you edit an address in the "Mac OS X Address Book" (see screenshot) in order to change it this cannot be done since Thunderbird cannot write in the macOS "AddressBook" files. You'd have to open "Contacts.app" and change the address there or use one of Thunderbird's address books instead.
