Thunderbird does not download email from gmail hosted accoun

My email is hosted on on google as my companies domain name. I have had no trouble with receiving or sending mail for a long time with this setup. (years).
There is one marketing email from Sears that keeps appearing even though I've logged on to gmail web interface and deleted that email.

Let me know what I should check next.

Also when I hit the Get Messages button it says 64 new messages, but the old Sears messages keeps showing up. And then it stops.

After saying it will download messages, Message flashes by that says "No Messages to Download"

You don't say but I'm assuming that you have deleted that marketing email in Thunderbird. After doing that, did you compact the Inbox folder?
How is that account set up in Thunderbird, as POP oir IMAP?

First backup your profile -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
Close Thunderbird and navigate to your Profile Folder ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder ). Find the file with the extension msf, ie. Inbox.msf. Note that there will be sets of two files with the name but only one of these will have the MSF extension. Delete only the file with the MSF extension. Restart Thunderbird, compact the folder, and see if things are back to normal. Note that the MSF files do NOT contain your messages. They are, for lack of a better term, an index file and will be recreated by Thunderbird as required.

Did not work.

Inbox is 2GB.

I will see if I can cut it down some how.

I saved my inbox messages into some subfolders and deleted my inbox and inbox.msf.

Restarted T-Bird and the message shows up again. I have insured that it is not in gmail. Now this has gotten really weird.
I'll check on Google forums too

No offense but are you sure that you deleted the correct Inbox and Inbox.msf files if you have more than one account? If you deleted the file Inbox and the message is not present on the server, I can't see any other source from which that message might be appearing.

Dan, I'm sure it is correct file since I moved 12,000 messages to other folders. Then deleted all data in inbox and .msf file.

Gmail is downloading same message over and over. I then see the .msf file recreated and the message(s) in the Inbox file.

I think this has to be some Gmail issue

If its repeatably downloading messages for a POP account its possible the popstate.dat file (used to keep track of whats already been downloaded) is corrupt. You could exit Thunderbird, move that file elsewhere (in case you want to reuse it, rather than just deleting it) and restart Thunderbird. It will create a replacement file. The problem is that it will download everything one more time since it has no record of ever downloading anything.

Is it downloading one specific message again and again or is it doing this for most/all messages?
