Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

I have no idea what that means. Are you saying that you aren't able to open a compose window in Safe Mode?

my major question is how do I send a picture that is on my desktop
I am able to drag it to the compose area of email but when it is sent it is not there

Re: emailing a jpg picture
Have never tried to drag/drop into a message composition window. Have always loaded into an image editor (usually Irfanview) and copy/pasted from there. This way I can reduce the image size if necessary and reduce the color density (256 colors is plenty for most email use) to reduce the size of the embedded image code.

Re: emailing a jpg picture
What is the file size of the image you are trying to send in an email?
As drag and drop is not working for you, have you tried menu path Insert->Image?

Hi Suze,
At the top of the Compose screen, there should be > Send, Contacts & an "Attach" button.
Select your file/photo using the Attach button & Win Explorer.

As an alternative you could use Insert > Image from the composition windows menu bar, or Attach from the Composition Toolbar.Suze wrote:cant send a picture on Tbird email never had a problem in the past

FWIW drag and drop works for me when dragging an image from my file manager.

Do you have the Composition toolbar activated? In the compose window, try menu path View->Toolbars->Composition toolbar.
