INBOX not displaying

Post by Rangitoto »

I am using Thunderbird 52.9.1 (32-bit).

Nothing is displaying in INBOX. There is email on the server and when I start Thunderbird I usually get a message that there are new messages but they don't display in INBOX. When I searched for a recently received message it was shown as being in INBOX even though nothing is displayed when I open INBOX. This problem started within the last few days.

POP or IMAP account?

If its a POP account there could be a logjam due to Thunderbird not knowing how to recover from attempting to download a message with "bad" headers. The normal workaround is exit Thunderbird, read and delete the OLDEST new message in webmail using a browser, and try again. The oldest new message will normally not be at the top of the listing, it is typically the last message listed in bold in the webmail folder listing. The reason this matters is the messages are downloaded in chronological order.

It's possible that the ".msf" files (files used for the folder listing) are corrupted. To rebuild the index of a folder, right-click it in the folder pane, select Properties, and choose "Rebuild Folder" from the General Information tab.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/New_messages_do_not_appear and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Empty_folders for some more suggestions.

Do you have any problems with other remote folders (for that account)?
