Hello
Running 60.3.3
One of my filters automatically forwards email from my account to another account and then puts it in a folder and marks it read
Its been working fine for well over a year.
Within the past week I get the following message every morning when i look at my computer (the email that needs the filter comes in at 4am Daily)....
Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.aol.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.
Any idea how to fix this?
Filter Issue

Re: Filter Issue
Can you send mail normally using that account? I suggest you also verify you can send mail reliably from other accounts to verify this is a account specific problem.
Try pinging the mail server from a console and see if you lose packets. If your ISP doesn't provide a reliable connection to the mail servers you could try configuring the account to use another accounts SMTP server. Being able to send mail via AOL webmail doesn't prove much as webmail doesn't have to make a connection to the SMTP server, it typically just makes a library call instead.
C:\Users\Eric>ping smtp.aol.com

Re: Filter Issue
Yes, I can manually send a file to the address with no issues....its only when it sends through the filter

Re: Filter Issue
I don't remember other threads where connection problems occurred only in the message filter (doesn't mean other users don't have this problem, just that its not common)
If you have other accounts (with their own smtp servers) I suggest you experiment with using a message filter to forward a message to see if this is an account (or smtp server) specific problem. You could create extra filters that are manually run to do that without interfering with your existing message filters.
Are you adding any extra overhead such as your anti-virus scanner scanning outgoing messages, or it going through a proxy? That might be just enough overhead if the connection was borderline to cause a problem when made via message filters (rather than sending normally).

Re: Filter Issue
I haven't done a thing to the machine since it last worked properly. No updates to Windows or Antivirus Software....no updates to Thunderbird
