Version 102

Hi,

So I went to go see if my add-ons had updated yet so I can update to version 91, & 2 of the add-ons (different devs) say it's good until version 102.

What's up with that? There is no version 102, right?

The next major release is Thunderbird 103.

Actually the Daily is 95.0a1, and the Beta is 94.0b4.

As has been explained many times before, Thunderbird is only released once a year with one major version, with security fixes, minor updates and bug fixes to it throughout the year following the Firefox ESR train.

The current Firefox ESR is 91.x.x.

What goes into the intervening Thunderbird daily and beta versions will either get back ported to a 91.x.x version or released in the next major release.

That is probably why I don't get upset over things that have changed between 78 and 91. I have been seeing them develop for the last year in the beta 79-91 cycle.

Sorry if I was unclear, but I've never asked you this question before, so I don't know when you explained it to me.

I was typing what my guy was telling me to type.

He wasn't complaining at all about how many updates there, just why it's jumping from 79 to then 91, That's now explained.

He finally figured out how you choose the numbers.

I still think that with every minor update the number should change so we aren't wondering what's going on & then we know that it's coming up to 91 or 103.

The numbers do change with every minor update, and you could always read the Release Notes, so you aren't wondering what is going on.

After an update, just click Help > About Thunderbird. Then click the Release notes link, and that versions will open in a new tab in Thunderbird.
