Connection to server timed out

I keep getting that message. I changed passwords in the last couple of days.
I am able to see the sent message in my webmail but not in a client like Tbird.

When are you seeing that error? Only on sending messages?
When you changed the password, did you change it both on the server side and in Thunderbird?
Who is the email provider?

Dan, thanks, for response. I did change password at Spectrum and in Tbird.
I could send email OK in Tbird, but receiving was problematic and caused server timeout.
In the end, I think the issue had to do with Spectrum changing server name a year ago to "mail.twc.com" though that's just a guess. I still had old server name, so it's a miracle I was still getting emails. But correcting server name seems to have fixed issue. Perhaps changing password triggered server name issue?
