Hi,
I am using Thunderbird 91.12.0 (64-Bit) in a Linux Mint 20.3 desktop.
The text in my 'Write' window where I compose my emails is very small. While I am able to change this on a one off basis, I have not discovered the way to make the changes permanent. The font size in all other aspects of the program is fine so I do not require a global increase in font size but just in the 'Write' window. The default settings for 'Write' are 'Paragraph' and 'Variable'. I would appreciate some advice, thanks.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for those links. With my near 82 year old brain I am not a very good pupil and struggled a bit making sense of things. It all seems very convoluted but eventually I managed to improve things. Hopefully future updates of Thunderbird might include more user friendly adjustment routes for such things. I very much appreciate your quick response and thank you for your help.

P.S. getting on to the forum site has been a bit tricky today with odd error messages and warnings - it took a couple of goes each time.

I got another error on logging out. It is as follows:
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to forums.mozillazine.org:80. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.

Fixing the font size - try this:
In Thunderbird Mail Ver 104.0b2 menu bar
Tools > Account Settings > Composition & Addressing
- Click the Global Composing Preferences (below and to the right)
- Scroll down to HTML Style
- Select the font and Size
Close the window
