Disable threaded view when displaying search results Ctrl+K

Post by leszekrabka »

I hit Ctrl+K,
then put search terms, click to search,
then press "Show results as a list".

And the list is ALWAYS threaded...

Is there a way to set that to be UNthreaded by DEFAULT?

I have search config, but don't know if there is any option like that...

Thank you.
I've been using Thunderbird from the beginning -- 2004 (?).
All my company using Thunderbird.

Control-K is global search. There used to be a "Search as list" add-on that had an option to expand all threads but its now a legacy add-on that won't work with version 78 or later.

There is a bug report requesting what you want - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1466892 (for reading only).

See if the ThreadKey add-on at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... threadkey/ is useful. I suspect that just lets you press 'U' to make it unthreaded rather than use a mouse.

Thank you.
This is quite basic function to search and have emails listed in my preferred form -- sort order, threading...
Hope developers have time to look at it :)

Based on comments in topicbox my impression is that they realize the user interface for global search needs a complete overhaul (not just fixing your problem) . No idea when that will occur though.

https://developer.thunderbird.net/planning/roadmap just mentions:

Global Message Index
Expected Delivery: Q4 2022
In order to do Conversations correctly, we need to be able to keep track of what folders messages in a thread are in, so we can display them in a conversation. This means we need to have a database that keeps track of the location of all emails.
