Can't use gmail (Mac)

It's impossible to get a gmail-account to work on Thunderbird.
My version is 102.3.0.

What can I do?

Absolutely. What error are you seeing when trying to access your Gmail account? Is that a personal or business account?
What settings are you using?
Without posting your full email address, what settings do you have under menu path Tools->Account Settings Server Settings:

Port # :
User name : (Is it your full name or just the bit before the @ symbol)
Connection Security:
Authentication Method:

Personal account.
What happens is that I'm getting "Login to xxx@gmail.com failed" I have to give the password again
and that goes on and on.

Server name: imap.gmail.com

User name: xxx@gmail.com

I have checked the password by logging in at gmail with it and it works fine but not i TB.
I also downloaded Microsoft Outlook and register the account there with no problem.
IMAP is activated in Gmal ok.

If I choose OAuth2 instead of password I'm getting a large form from GOOGLE to give the password for the account
and then ask to allow TB to different things.....
I do that but it comes back and ask again, over and over........

You can't use "normal password" as the authentication method anymore. You need to use OAuth2 with Gmail nowadays. That requires cookies be enabled for google.com in order to create the token. Cookies are enabled by default. Note that the OAuth2 popup window is not displayed by your systems browser, its displayed by Thunderbird.

Running anything with a local proxy (other than a anti-virus scanner) or a web server installed on your PC sometime interferes with the last steps of the OAuth2 popup's sequence.

If you have Gmail's two step verification enabled you need to create a application specific password for Thunderbird using the google.com web site and use that password instead of the normal password. Typically you'd only have that enabled if you're trying to make your smart phone more secure.

Ok, I've done Gmail's two step verification enabled and I'm not getting any more logins apart for those that needed to get it "right".
But I'm not getting any emails to the account on TB. Only in where I'm logged in at Gmail on Google.
I'm on a Mac.

Are you using a application specific password in Thunderbird (due to using two step verification)?

Do you see a empty inbox in Thunderbird or do you see existing old messages but never get notified of new ones ....?

I Dont see any old messages, all is empty.
I've deleted the account and creating again.

If I try config manually and advanced I'm getting the account into TB but keep getting the login and verification all the time.

Did you get the google.com account popup (due to the new account wizard enabling OAuth2 as the authentication method) that asked permission for Thunderbird to access your account?

Did it claim to succeed and grant Thunderbird permission to access your mail, calendar etc.?

If you look in tools -> settings -> privacy & security -> show cookies does it list any cookies for google.com?

Well, I'm getting the Google login page, I give the password and click login. Then I'm getting the page asking for verification code that i got on my telephone. I'm entering that and click finish. Then I get a message that Thunderbird wants to access certain things. I click allow.

Then all is quite until I try to access the account. Everything starts over again with Google login page and all.

So I don't know what to do more? create a OAuth2 token? Where do I do that??
