I would like to create a filter that identifies as spam any email addressed to multiple users served by my ISP (earthlink.net). Has anyone found a way to do this?

One solution might be to add your address to the address book and then test whether the "To or CC" address isn't in your address book AND ends with earthlink.net. That would take two rules in one filter, selecting the "match all of the following" button.
That should work if Thunderbird applies all of the rules in a filter to each address, rather than testing whether any address meets each rule. I don't remember which way they implemented it but it would only take you a minute to experiment and find out.

What a great idea. In hindsight it is obvious, like all good ideas. I am embarrassed not to have figured this out on my own. Thanks.

Now that I try it, I don't see that I can create a filter that checks to see if the To: field is in my address book. Is that possible?

Hmm... You can select "From" "is in my address book" "personal" but you can't do that for "To". I keep forgeting the inconsistencies in what verbs it supports.
Try testing whether "To or CC" "ends with" "earthlink.net" AND "To or CC" "doesn't contain" your email address. Same caveat as before.

Well, using the "From || is in my address book" and i use one of the addressbooks for this filter, it doesn't even work at all. Nothing happens when i manually run this filter on my inbox. All messages with From: addresses which are in this addressbook are *not* moved to the different folder i configured.
This is on thunderbird-1.5-1 on linux fedora core 4. -- jan
