I'm trying to send an e-mail for the last couple of days and thunderbird says:
login to server smtp.mail.yahoo.com failed and gives me the option to re-enter the password. The password is not saved (I prefer to re-enter it when I send an e-mail) and it's definitely not a typing error... I' ve been using thunderbird without problems for a year now. I'm using Thunderbird 3.1.2 with win 7. It seems that the problem appeared after the last upgrade. Any help would be appreciated. I had the same problem, just changed the smtp server from ".com" to ".de" and problem was solved.
That did solve the problem.
Thanks a lot. It's still an issue though for the thunderbird team... ![]() No it's not. The .com Yahoo, the free US site, does not provide POP or SMTP. Yahoo in other countries do. This is not a Thunderbird issue, but is a Yahoo issue.
I too posted a similar problem: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1978823&start=0
I'm in the UK & changed the Outgoing Server from smtp.mail.yahoo.com to .co.uk & it's solved my problem. Yahoo did this last year, I changed the .com then & i fixed it. ![]() So, Daifne, does this mean if I, in the US, set up a Yahoo account in these other countries, I now have POP and SMTP available?
![]() You can try it. I have heard of others who have done so.
but until a few days ago, this was working great for me. All of a sudden, I can't send mails through the yahoo account.

Were you using the WebMail extension to access a free US Yahoo email account through Thunderbird? Yes - webmail extension to access US yahoo account.
Sorry, I made my own post on this topic as well. ![]()
In that case, please continue to post in and monitor the topic you created. Posting in multiple threads on the same question simply makes it more difficult for people to understand the issue you are reporting and the solutions that have been recommended to you.
