The Incoming settings it is trying are username in format 'username' (without the @gmail.com), pop3.gmail.com, POP, 110 and 'None'. I tried changing those settings to:
username in format 'username@gmail.com', imap.gmail.com, IMAP, 993, and SSL/TLS.
username@gmail.com, imap.googlemail.com, IMAP, 993, SSL/TLS
I'm getting these settings from these URLs:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... wer=180189
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/g ... 18f7&hl=en
But if I use these settings for Manual Setup, Thunderbird says:
Could not connect to mail server username@gmail.com; the connection was refused.
The only thing I could think of was that the port was blocked. But Windows Firewall is disabled, and I went to Windows Firewall and added a program exception for Mozilla Thunderbird and a port exception for port 993 anyway. This is on my laptop which has Vista Home Ultimate, and wireless internet.
Could the port still be blocked somehow? Is there anything else that might be an issue?
