Is it possible to disable tabs in Thunderbird?

In Firefox I have been able tags in Options. Is it possible to disable tabs in Thunderbird?

Configure Thunderbird to open new messages in a window using Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Reading & Display and then set mail.tabs.autoHide true in the config editor (Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Config Editor). That gets rid of the tab used to indicate what folder you selected in the folder pane. However, if you select tools -> addons it will display the add-ons in a tab (rather than a window) regardless. That seems to be hard-coded.
