In case I confused you, you (normally) can't have two versions running at the same time. But you can have two different versions installed and run either one, exit, and then run the other. Just be careful to wait about a minute after you exit Thunderbird for the process to completely die (its still running even after you can't see anything on the screen) before you launch the other version or you will actually restart whatever version you had been running.

Please try rebuilding the inbox.msf file by selecting the inbox in the folder pane, right clicking on it, selecting properties, and then pressing the repair folder button.

Hi

Thanks for that. I didn't try running the two.

I made the mistake of applying updates and it seems to not update 11 to it's latest version but upgrade it to vs 12 which defeats the point. I now know to leave it alone.

I'll try a bid or two on eBay(as that's been a known problem) just now and see what happens.

Again thanks for yuor assisstance

Hi again.

Disappointingly it has not solved the problem.. Just tried a buy and a bid.. got two acknowledments from eBay and a Blank... but three emails in Live and on my android phone's email application.

Could it be Bullguard AV that is affecting TB but not Live, perhaps?

Scratching for ideas now...

Thanks

Don't know. I suggest you try the free version of Avast! as your anti-virus. Its very popular in these forums.

The architect suggested: "Ask if they have anti-virus quarantining turned on in Thunderbird (options, security, anti-virus tab, "allow anti-virus..." checkbox). If so, try turning it off and see if that fixes the issue. "

Thanks for that pointer.. I'm trying EM myself.I had never heard of it till you mentioned it above. It imported from the other clients pretty well.

I am (hate to admit this) looking at buying Office Pro 2003 just get the full version of Outlook. (which does work with Win7) I have used it in the past but lost myMS Pro Office 2010 licence details and could not install it again. It wasn't as friendly as OE but it never gave me problems.

I liked TB but mising (blank) emails and Live had problems not sending when I wanted or not allowing you to send unless you closed the program

I have hated the wasted time fiddling with importing, setting up acounts etc..

Thanks again. I hope they find the problemwith TB. they deserve to succeed.

I also have pretty much the same problem on my desktop computer. In my case, all the emails between 24 May and 1 June arrived initially in correct format. Then yesterday or the day before (7 or 8 Jun) all of them turned completely blank, except you could see the to/from/date in the inbox. Even those I had filed in other folders had turned blank. Message source info was same (almost nothing) as other posters. I also tried some of the other proposed solutions but nothing changed. Interestingly, my laptop did not suffer the same problem.

The desktop had TB 11 on it, when everything was OK. I had been absent for 6 weeks, and it had been shut down. I have a suspicion the problems occurred after it updated to TB 12, because I vaguely recollect seeing the notification from TB when I launched it. It now is running TB 13. I have updates set to automatic, so maybe I should change that. It's never good to be a first adopter when it comes to software.

If other posters can pin the problem to TB 12, and not with TB 11 or 13, then that tells us something. Not the why or the answer, but at least it would narrow down the parameters.

The desktop runs XP SP2, NIS, with AT&T as ISP. The laptop runs Win 7, NIS, & AT&T.

I was able to forward important messages to myself, then changed the headers back to the original info using Header Tools Lite (a TB add-on).

I ran a full NIS scan, and will shortly run both Super Anti Spyware and Malwarebytes Anti Malware, to see if they turn up anything in the malware realm. I'll post the results.

Further to my posting above: I have five email accounts but only the primary one (which is used to log into the ISP server) was affected. In addition, the TB profiles on the desktop and the laptop are identical, as I copy the profile from desktop to laptop when departing on a trip, and vice versa when I return. The laptop was using TB 11 then 12 with no problems. It's now in the process up updating to TB 13. (Sorry for this add-on, but I was not able to edit my first post.)

i had problems with Vs11 and 12.

EMclient has been useful. Too soon to say if I can ditch the idea of MS Outlook yet..

Thanks to others for their help.

Blank, or almost blank here too.

The visible message contained only four rows, three were empty and one contained just one character, star (*). From the source of the message I could see that the intended message was embedded but my Thunderbird ( Mozilla/5.0 [X11; Linux i686; rv:12.0] Gecko/20120430, Application Build ID 20120430053815) did not show it.

With Evolution (3.2.3) mail reader I can see that the intended message was a hidden as an HTML document attachment (attachment.html)

I'm guessing that Thunderbird is very sensitive to MIME structure and in case of a slight header issue (malformation/non-supported option) it ignores respective MIME parts.

Relevant parts of the source of the message:
