notifications show incorrect sender name (Mac)

Whenever I get a message, thunderbird notifications display a certain user, newly added - 'new message from xxxx'. Every time.

How can I fix this? This is a recent issue.

* How is that mail account set up, as POP or IMAP?
* Is your mail service from an ISP, corporate e-mail system or Web-based?
* Are you using an antivirus and/or a firewall program? Which one(s)?
