Are you using W 10? I'm on W7 and I don't see any glogg even when I type in glogg in the Find Programs around Start.

Does it end up in Users folder or something like that?

Have you tried any of those other programs listed in that link?

I'm using Windows 10.

"I don't see any glogg even when I type in glogg in the Find Programs around Start."
Neither do I. Please re-read my prior post. You have to scroll the list of programs when you click on windows start until you come to "glogg".

I also noticed that I lost the pin to task bar setting after powering off and then restarting my PC. Its installed at "C:\Program Files\glogg\glogg.exe" so I manually created a shortcut for it on the desktop and then dragged it to the taskbar.

The free version of EmEditor doesn't support large files, its only in the commercial version. The commercial version has a 30 day trial period.

I downloaded Large Text File Viewer from https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... iewer.html (I didn't want to trust the softronics download link). It worked but I didn't like it. So I downloaded PilotEdit Lite from https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... _lite.html . It installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\PilotEdit Lite and automatically created a shortcut on my desktop. It's supposed to let you edit a unlimited number of files of up to 10GB.

It loads a file much slower than glogg but its reasonably fast and its a full text editor. There is a PilotEdit Lite listed in Windows start if you scroll the list of programs but typing it in the windows start edit field finds the downloaded setup program, not the installed executable. Perhaps because its supposed to work with XP and later rather than Windows 7 and later.

Deep breath. Thank for for trying to help. I downloaded the glogg set up file .exe to my hard drive. If I visit that sub-folder I can see that .exe file click it and it seems to "install" I then return ot the sub-folder and see a glogg.exe file (not set up) and click that file and it l launches this gray box with File, Edit which seems to be the glogg program.

But, it never loads - it just sits there.

Is there a portable version I could run on a flash drive?

I've downloaded Pilot Edit and will have to scan for badware on it later.

Did glogg take a looooooong time to load for you?

I have 1GB RAM on a 15 year old laptop.

Thank you for all your kind help.

glogg loaded very fast. However, I have a 2 year old desktop with a AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU (8 cores) with 16GB memory that boots off of a SSD so its difficult to compare results between our PCs.

https://portableapps.com/node/58468 says "The developer was already asked to make the version of the Portable App, but he replied: "Sure, but can you explain exactly what should be done? I'm not very familiar with Windows ..."" over a year ago. http://glogg.bonnefon.org/ (authors web site) doesn't mention a portable version and I can't find a request in the issues section at https://github.com/nickbnf/glogg/issues.

Thank you for checking on a portable;e version. I guess I can sit and wait for it to finally load or try one of the other text editors in the link you kindly provided. I never thought it would be this much trouble to open and search an old TB inbox.
