Setting Reply Color In TB Version 38.4?

Post by Morkafur »

I've been using TB for over 10 years, but still do not see, in any of the newest versions, how to simply specify that I want the reply text to be a different color than the compose text.

Like Outlook, I would like the message reply text to be blue. The only way in TB I seemingly can change the font color is globally, for composition and replies. Not what I want.

Don't see a plug-in that will do what I have always wanted either.

It's been a while since I've asked about this and I've always wondered why this simple feature isn't there (nobody wants it?).

In any case, if there is a way to have black for the compose text and blue for the reply color, I would love to hear it! :)

Thanks,

Hi,
I don't use this extension but it may suit your needs.

Doesn't look promising.

I was hoping for a real add-on that Thunderbird "knows" about.

It's hard to believe it's still a challenge just to change the color of the reply.

Jeeez.

Thanks very much for you reply. :)

Have you checked out Paolo's other extensions?
He has quite a few for Thunderbird.

There would probably be an add-on specifically for something like that...if there was any significant demand for it.

I find it difficult to believe it wouldn't be a popular option, but it certainly seems that way...

Thanks for your reply.

I would just use the color box on the toolbar in HTML composition and change the text to blue before starting the reply, and leave the default black.

The recipient will also see it in blue if they are viewing email as Original HTML.

That doesn't work if you're an old-timer like me and do "inline" replies. :? When you create a space in the middle of the quoted text, the blue gets applied to what you type.

I agree with the OP, it seems odd that you can't set the reply text color.

You can, just type your reply and then select the newly added text and change the color.

Well, what you type is the reply. What am I missing?
