I had the same problem with v.45. Not sure how to disable or uninstall Profile Manager, but in my case I found that v.45 doesn't work with the Check & Send add-on. Disabling that enabled mails to be sent, but I'm not happy to lose a useful add-on.

I use Profile Password, and have same problem.

Discovered that after one failure to send an email (per email account), then on the next email attempt, it pops up the box in which I enter password. I do, and it works (sends) fine then.
It is only the first email attempt that causes it.

Just having the password required box pop up at that time, is new. As I remember it, it only used to pop up when loading Thunderbird.
It never did it when the Send button was clicked, before this version of Thunderbird - so something has changed within Thunderbird. I hope they fix it... I've lost a few emails over it, and had to re-compose them.
