TBird 45 mangling To: names from abook if # selected >1

After selecting multiple names to include in a message from the address book, and dragging the list to the To: field when writing messages, they are getting mangled in a mix of name/address strings. Never deletes second+ name/account from first To: field after splitting them.

1. Selected these five contacts from address book simultaneously

2. Drug that group over to the To: field of a message I was writing with no fields filled in yet

3. First To: field shows all five names/emails separated by commas in red

4. Next it creates four more To: fields in red text and fills them with last four addresses
Looks like this in red all of a sudden

Any way to have it only leave the first name/address in the first To: field so I don't have to go in and manually delete all but first contact each time?
