Replying to an email opens a new window

Hi, I want to be able to reply within the same window of the email and not have one pop open, this is the first time this is happening not sure how. How do I go about it?

At this time there is no such option in Thunderbird. The composition window always launches as a separate window.

That's strange this is the first time ever I've had this issue when replying to an email after 6 years of use..., how's that possible?

Nevermind I guess it did always happen, only this time the window was smaller than usual so it appeared as a popup, whereas all this time I didn't realize it opened as a new window. It's kind of inefficient for this to happen and is an opportunity to make thunderbird better by having it to just be able to reply without having to open a new window again.

The Thunderbird Conversations add-on claims it supports replying in-line.

Thanks maybe I'll try it. Addons are double edged sword they can help or they can cause problems
