Emails not downloading.

Post by artmo »

I have a problem with downloading my emails (POP3)
Everything has been working fine until today and when I click on 'Get messages' it shows that it is downloading 1 of 57 but nothing is getting downloaded.

I can see the messages in webmail and also on my phone but they are not arriving in Thunderbird.

Any ideas please?

Moving to Thunderbird Support.

Close Thunderbird. Try deleting the oldest message on the server that has not yet been downloaded to Thunderbird or moving it to a folder other than the server inbox. Restart Thunderbird and see if the messages download.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried deleting messages via webmail but this isn't helping.

Is there another way of deleting messages from the server?

First backup your profile -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
Close Thunderbird and navigate to your Profile Folder ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder ). Find the files with the extension msf, such as Inbox.msf. Note that there will be sets of two files with the name but only one of these will have the MSF extension. Delete the files with the MSF extension. Restart Thunderbird, compact all folders, and see if things are back to normal. Note that the MSF files do NOT contain your messages. They are, for lack of a better term, an index file and will be recreated by Thunderbird as required.

If this procedure provides no improvement, see this link -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recover_messa ... upt_folder
