Solution - Thunderbird popup on start - Default mail client

Post by Croglish »

Hi guys,

I've solved for myself one annoying problem regarding popup window from Thunderbird asking me if I would like to set it as default mail client.

First of all, I installed Thunderbird version 45.5.0 on Windows 10 OS.
This is setup on which I had a problem.

Solution that worked for me:
1. Open Options menu (Alt key > Tools > Options).
2. Go on Advanced tab.
3. Find "System Integration" and mark checkbox "Always check to see if TB is the default mail client on startup".
4. Click OK below to confirm this setup.
5. Open again that window with Advanced tab and unmark that same checkbox.
6. Click OK below to confirm new setup.
7. Exit TB and start it again. It worked for me.

Before I tried that solution I set in Win10 TB as default Email program but it didn't help. Since that was preset before my solution, try to set it also if my solution didn't work for you. Who knows, maybe that step is needed to make my solution works.

I hope this will help to someone.

p.s. Since this is my first post trying to help to someone I'm not sure if I posted it to right thread on forum. Admin - please move my post if needed. Thanks :)
