Re: clicking on link does not open in browser
problem has just returned!!
was working normally until now.
in win 10 pro, went to settings, and changed the default to IE, and without restaring the computer, clicked on the link in TB, and it opened in IE.
So I changed the default back to FF, clicked on the link in TB, and nothing happened.
it's a pain to have to restart the computer as I have many programs running, and I would have to log into all of them again, and then select all the tabs I used before, all in all, hopefully a step I could skip please
so why is this reoccurring a 3rd time
thanks fellas, cheers

Hi Peter,
I checked at the WIN 10 fora & found a few results that point to the same "fix."
ref; > https://www.tenforums.com/gtsearch.php? ... x=0&sa.y=0
Fix #1 > https://www.tenforums.com/browsers-emai ... post667522
Fix #2 > https://www.tenforums.com/browsers-emai ... owser.html
Fix #3 > https://www.tenforums.com/browsers-emai ... owser.html
If none of those work for you......"dunno."
Sorry.
Maybe ask "them?"

Re: clicking on link does not open in browser
You're welcome for my small contribution, Peter.
Must've been a "bit of a conflict between IE 11 & Edge."
Keep an on it & let us know how it goes.
Stay safe.

Hi Peter,
What can one say.....?
Try all the suggestions for resetting the defaults, again.
Windows can be a real PITA at times, especially WIN 10.
If all fails, then try their forum.
NB: These are from threads that reported that it fixed the issue.

Have you tried the following 2 methods ?
1. The Win 10 way:
Left click at Start button > Settings > System > left side, click Default Apps > right side, scroll to Web Browser > click the box > do you seeCyberfoxFirefox in the list > if yes, click it.
2. The old fashioned way:
Right click at Start button > click Control Panel > top right, click View by > click either large or small > click Default Programs > wait for loading > click Set your default programs > left side, do you see yourCyberfoxFirefox?
If yes, click it > right side, click set this program as default > click OK when done.
Try them & see how you go, Peter. After literally hours of frustration, I stumbled onto this:
I went from 'Control Panel' to 'Default Programs' to 'Set Program access and computer defaults'. There are 3 radio buttons: Θ Microsoft WindowsΘ Non-MicrosoftΘ CustomI chose 'Non-Microsoft', which allowed me to setGoogle ChromeFirefox as my default web browser.I also un-checked the box across from Internet Explorer which said 'Enable access to this program.'
Voilá --Google ChromeFirefox shows up as the default in the 'Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program' screen.

Re: clicking on link does not open in browser
hi again <sorry>
problem yet again...
Mr. L I tried all of the above
In addition I have a problem with FF that I posted in the FF help forum, but fixed that problem and the 'link from TB' problem at the same time by restarting windows.
But there must be something obviously wrong somewhere, and I don't want to restart windows as I have many platforms running and open programs, which take time to restart
any suggestions please
thanks, cheers

Re: clicking on link does not open in browser
Hi Peter,
Sorry, but cannot think of much else to try.
I really thought that the 2nd quoted fix may have worked, but apparently, not.
What A/V (Anti-virus) & any other security/malware type programs are you running?
Just guessing here...
Wait for Dan or someone more knowledgeable to come along.

Re: clicking on link does not open in browser
Hi Pater,
"Spybot" you say?
We've heard that it can cause a few problems, but not sure about it interfering with setting any default program.
You might want to remove it & see what happens?
I can't see anything in AVAST that may interfere either. (I also run the free version & have checked it's Options etc.)
Malwarebyte's Anti-exploit I know nothing about.
I really think it's more a WIN 10 issue, but........?
