Thunderbird #45.7.1 on Windows 7 Home Prem.
Problem: Try attachment to email and goes to 'Documents Library' 'Location not found' and refers to location is unavailable.
I can send and receive email just fine, just cannot add any attachments.
HELP!
Thanks, John K.

Moving to Thunderbird Support.

* How is that mail account set up, as POP or IMAP?
* Where is the Thunderbird profile located, on a local hard drive, a network share, external drive, other?

Mail is IMAP, on local hard drive. I have not changed anything on accounts or hardware for some time. This problem just started this week (2.5.17)

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

See if this alternative attachment method will work:

Open a Windows Explorer window to the directory where the files you want to attach are stored and try dragging one or more of the files from that Explorer window to the right hand end of the address entry field of the message being composed.

OK - I can drag and drop a file into the message as an attachment.

While searching for answer I checked into : tools-options-advanced- config editor. In 'mail. attachment. store. version' I found the same statement as I was getting in the 'Location not found' error statement. I clicked on to 'Reset' which went to Default setting and eliminated the sentence. Got out of Thunderbird and restarted, tried attach again - but - same result. Just FYI..

What error message are you seeing when trying to receive? ...when trying to send?
What security software are you running on that system?

Receive: connection to server timed out.
Send : Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com timed out. Try again.

It's possible that Webroot is not recognizing Thunderbird's latest update (45.7.1) as the same program authorized to access the Internet. Close Thunderbird. See if there is a list of authorized/permitted programs in the Webroot interface and, if there is, remove those entries, reboot the computer, then launch Thunderbird and see if problems still appear.

Usually problems arise in the profile rather than the program itself but...

Clear the browser cache and the Windows Temp directory.
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Download a new copy of the full installer from http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird
Run the installer.
Restart the anti-virus program.

Note that your saved messages, address books, settings, passwords, etc (if any) are stored in a different directory from the program files and will not be removed by deleting the directory identified above.

This thread http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 5#p5239885 has a more detailed version of the above instructions if needed.
