Picture stuck in new email

All of a sudden, when I click on write, in addition to the signature which is part of all of my emails, there's a photo. It's a photo which I cut and pasted into a prior email, but I can't get rid of it. It's almost as if it has made itself part of the signature. What can I do?

1) Edit your signature file to ensure that the image didn't get added to that file by mistake/accident.

2) Try menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network & Disk space->click on the "Clear now" button to clear the cache.

Thank you. What I discovered was that when I shut down and re-opened Thunderbird, the problem went away. Very odd. I couldn't delete the picture even though I could delete my signature.
