Can I copy only the name from email header

Post by vdongen »

From an email header I am able to copy the email address or copy the name + email address from a person in the list. Is there is way to only copy the name?

Hi,
While I am not a Thunderbird guru, this extension may help...

There's an "Edit Full Source" button at the bottom.

If not, then wait for someone more knowledgeable.

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

You can use Control-U or view -> message source to view the raw message source for the current message. Scroll down past the big block of X- headers and you should find the From: header near the Subject. Once you find it you can copy & paste just the display name part of that header.

I obviously mistakenly used "header". What I mean is to be able to copy the name of the persons in the emails From / To / CC field. If you right-click on it you can opt for copying the email address or name and address. I only want to have the name copied. Thanks.

Then use Control-U as before, and copy from the From:, To: and CC: headers any display names. Keep in mind that not every email address includes a display name, its optional.

A possible alternative would be to use the email address crawler add-on to add the contacts to your address book, and then individually copy just the display name from the added contacts.
