Thunderbird ignores settings

I have previously checked 'when getting new messages for this account, always check this folder' for the Junk folder on one of my imap yahoo accounts and after i unchecked this option thunderbird still continue to check the Junk folder. Why is it ignoring the settings?

Likely because you are subscribed to that folder and it has no other source for Junk messages from Yahoo. Try unsubscribing from the folder -- http://www.pcworld.com/article/250202/t ... tions.html

I have other accounts where thunderbird doesn't check the junk folder and i am subscribed for these folders. It checks for messages in these folders only when i select the folder.

The server for the problem account may be using the IDLE command to update Thunderbird between checks for new messages.
