Over the last few days my TB 45.8.0 on Windows 10 has been falling apart. I have changed nothing (no guarantees that TB and / or Windows haven't updated themselves). Same problems on both my PC & my wife's (same software).
If I compose a message and hit Send, I get "Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.cobbsmill.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."
SMTP settings have not changed on either machine. Not a very helpful message.
We've been using TB for about 13 years and this has only just started happening today (we have 2 other newish problems we can live with - one that pops up a security certificate warning all the time and one that causes all my emails to two active accounts in New Zealand to get rejected).
Thanks - John

What security software are you running on that system?
Who is the email provider?

Re: Can't send any email. "Message not sent for unknown reas
The problem is on both the main PCs we use, one with AVG, one with McAfee. It turns out that the bulk of the problem came from my email setup being a bit antiquated - our hosting company (gate.com) had updated their email servers a few years back and we hadn't changed our settings. It appears that some update to Windows or Thunderbird finally caused us to come unstuck. After a fair while on the chat line with gate they sorted all my problems out and we are up and running agan.
