Startup, Button "get all", CTRL+F5 works but not the POP

Post by AlainCh2 »

"Get message" - Startup , Button " get all" and CTRL+F5 Not working only for the POP account but the 2 IMAP check correctly
While manually selected the pop account get messages.
( all setting are verified 3 time and setting should allow it to work)

Question is : ThunderBird do correctly the automatic mail check every X minutes

Any reason given why CTRL+F5, Standard Button and at the Start-up >> it is not doing it ?

Last week I had a Big Crash on PC and router: Lost my system disk with mail and system on it.
:-)) Installed a new SDD. Changed router.

Reinstalled afresh W10, and Thunderbird. rel 45.8
(just update now to 52.0 - no changes)
... Recovered from a backup disk a Profile and a database.

Speaking of Thunderbird:

As I had the previous set: Setup account ( 2 IMAP accounts: gmail, pec and one POP3 account : G.net )
All receive at startup
G.net as favorite account
... use of "global account" for G.net on Local folder
Local inbox as "favorite" to show on start-up.

I re-settled the new installation with the same accounts and same settings

Using the "get message" button and at the start-up all accounts were checked for mail.
Everything fine.

Some minutes later I saw that ONLY for IMAP accounts were checked, while the POP3 was never checked
(both start-up and button and CTRL+F5 did not do the job correctly).

On the button with the drop-down menu I did a manual GetMessage on G.net (Pop3 account) and it worked fine.
But it was, and it is, the only way to get that pop messages.

Now it's the day after ... So I tried to clean the Situation in my mind:

in last days after re-installation of TB I didn't install any new software or changed any Windows setting.
While I'm doing a recovery from crash everything is done before entering last step: Installing and setting mail.

So Thunderbird is the last software of my "recovery" list ...
... being mail the most important thing I still have on disk in my Computers.

Partial solution found for getting mail from the POP account:

Add-on "Get Selected Mails 0.10.2" installed
it create a new button. You have to find it in "customize" Added the new button to my tool bar
I configured on it two profile: All, Pop. (default set as All)

Now every time I click the NEW button it check mails from Imaps and also the POP.

Not solved the start-up Problem.
TB check only Imap's, not POP, while configured correctly to get ALL account on start-up.

Just to add a last information:

While Button and Start-up CTRL+F5 are still not working ...
after x minutes (as per setup) Thunderbird will check automatically the mail and also get the pop messages.
Doing that correctly
