Attachments show on desktop
Whenever I open a document attached to an email in Thunderbird a copy appears on my desktop. How can I prevent this from happening?

Re: Attachments show on desktop
Change tools -> options -> attachments -> "save files to desktop" to "always ask me where to save attachments". It won't actually ask if you do that, it will keep them in the mailbox folder along with the messages. The code to specify where to save attachments has never worked correctly, and for many users won't even save attachments to the desktop. "tools -> options" is "preferences" if you are using a Mac.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differen ... x,_and_Mac if somebody gives you a menu command that you don't seem to have if you ever create another thread. Since most users use Windows its quite common for somebody to give you instructions meant for Windows unless you explicitly mention what operating system you are using. I can tell you're using OS X since moderators can see a user agent string displayed at the bottom of your post.
