Emails with blank correspondents

Post by tnffuser »

Occasionally get imap emails with blank subject and correspondent, the dates are always 1969 and the body is blank. When attempting to delete they will not always do so, but eventually do go away after the delete attempt, usually after restart. Compact regularly.

Delete inbox.msf files under profile/mail/smart mailboxes? Any others .msf file need deleting?

That is a classic sign of a corrupt folder. Deleting *.msf files will not cure that, it only works for very mild cases at best. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_: ... s#Real_fix . I suggest you change some of your habits. For example, I suggest you get in the habit of moving most new mail that you want to keep to other folders (than the inbox), and configure Thunderbird to either automatically compact folders or (better yet) configure it to automatically expunge deleted messages when there are 20 of them per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Deleting_mess ... ounts#Misc

Thank you, will review and implement those not now being done.
All mail in inbox that is kept is currently moved out into other folders daily, expunged/compacted daily.
Clean up and empty trash on exit is checked on each account.
TB is closed and reopened each day.
All this has been this way since each account was established.
