hello,

i've looked around but could only found some informations about profiles.
I use thunderbird to get my mails from my servers. Recently, i changed my hosting. But still same domain name, same mail name, but not same password.
Now, i want my new account in thunderbird show up my previous emails. How can i achieve this.

thank you for your attention

Have you already set up the new account in Thunderbird?
How are the accounts set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP? Find out using menu path Tools->Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type at the top right of the dialogue.

And you've left the old account in place in Thunderbird, right?
And what is happening when you try to get mail for that new account?

unfortunately, i removed my old account. But i can try with another one. I was just thinking, since they have the same name but another password, thunderbirds will get confused and at least will ask me to change the name of the account. New experiment today :)

No, Thunderbird will not ask you to change the name of the account. The identity of the account is linked to user name and server name. Thunderbird would accept a POP type account AND an IMAP account with the same email address because the server names would be different. The passwords for those two accounts could be the same or different without any issues in Thunderbird.

i reset my old account. So i have two accounts now, one fetching mails from the old server, the other one from the new server. Both works fine (imap accounts). But, of course, i dont need two and anyway i will leave the old server. I tryed to melt the two accounts into one, but without success. So, finally, i used a simple way who dont need any technical knowledge. I just selected all mails from the first account, and dragged them in my second account. This did the trick. All my mails in the same account and i can keep them as so long i want. End of story. :D :D
Thanks for reading (and replies)
