My wife has been getting "The POP3 mail server (pop.mail.yahoo.com) does not support UIDL or XTND XLST, which are required to implement the ``Leave on Server'', ``Maximum Message Size'' or ``Fetch Headers Only'' options. To download your mail, turn off these options in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window." message for over a week.
I think the message is to abandon POP. and switch to IMAP.
I moved the historic folders we imported from Windows Live Mail to the folder labelled "Local Folders". Will these folders still be there after I convert her from POP to IMAP? When I tested the conversion on my yahoo account - going from POP to iMAP, Thunderbird downloaded all my mail (headers) again.
Will converting to IMAP from POP remove Local Folders?

Thunderbird's Local Folders is not impacted by adding or removing email accounts. See this article on how to "convert" from POP to IMAP -- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/sw ... ap-account
