I have had Thunderbird for years with my Gmail account on prior computers. I bought a new computer and installed Thunderbird. I set it up for Thunderbird. It will not automatically synch all my old emails. I keep having to hit the "get messages" button. It only downloads 80 at at time. Any ideas?
thanks

Re: Synch Thunderbird to Gmail
Is this a IMAP or POP account?
If its a IMAP account are offline folders (synchronization & storage) and global search/indexing (tools -> options -> advanced -> general)enabled?
Gmail imposes a undocumented bandwidth limit. G Suite (commercial version of Gmail) help states you can download up to 2500MB per day from a IMAP server, download 1250MB per day from a POP server, and upload 500MB per day to the IMAP server. Gmail will silently fail if it reaches these limits. However, you might be running into another bandwidth limit for a shorter span of time.
Rather than creating a new account in a new profile, why not copy your old profile from the old PC to the new PC? See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Move_to_a_new_PC
