TB uses too much memory

Post by plonkplonk »

I'm having problems with TB using more and more memory over the course of a single session. When I start a fresh session, it uses about 150MB but over the course of a day or two, it will gradually increase to as much as 800+MB and I need to shut it down. Compacting the folders does nothing. A fresh restart will free up memory and look fine temporarily but it shortly starts hogging memory again.

I'm running Win 7 and TB 52.1.1. I don't know which version I ran previously (I have it set up to auto-update) but it didn't run into this memory problem.

How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Dan, it's been a little over an hour and TB is already using >300MB in memory.

It's now at 625+MB. Usage goes up about 10MB per incoming message and a bit less for each reply...

Now at 750MB.

Safe mode not any better...

Thoughts?

Fyi, the simple act of clicking "Get Messages" on 3 email accounts was enough to raise memory usage by 10-20MB.

It seems to be better. Usage started around 150MB a couple of hours ago and is only 290MB so far.

Will update you as time goes on.

Thanks!

Up to 440MB so it may not be a good as I thought. Better but not great...

Why does 440MB seem excessive to you? How much memory do you have on that system?

440mb in of itself is not excessive; it's the trajectory to 800+MB that is worrisome. I have 6G and don't want my system to slow down just because TB is sucking up too much by itself.
