Different dictionary

Post by puternut »

Good morning.

I have installed Mozilla Thunderbird as my sole e-mail reader and noted that the dictionary loaded was 'English/U.S.'

Being from England I wanted to use the 'English/UK' dictionary so downloaded the file to my desktop but trying many ways to install it I am still left with English/US' on its own.

Any advice you might have I would be grateful.

Hi,
To install any extensions into Thunderbird, just open, Tools > Addons & drag 'n' drop the .xpi file
into the screen.
Close & re-open Thunderbird to complete.

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

You might also want to consider replacing the current program with the English (British) version so that menus, etc. will match the localized version -- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/

Clear the browser cache and the Windows Temp directory.
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Download a new copy of the full installer from http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird
Run the installer.
Restart the anti-virus program.

Note that your saved messages, address books, settings, passwords, etc (if any) are stored in a different directory from the program files and will not be removed by deleting the directory identified above.

This thread http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 5#p5239885 has a more detailed version of the above instructions if needed.
