Hi Folks,
I currently have the email addresses of some 457 ex-colleagues and have been the official 'Head of Obituaries' for decades.
To avoid posting to all of those at once, I have always split them up into 'n' groups of less than 50 entrants each, and currently have 11 sub-groups.
Up until Noon on 09/06/2017 I was able to post emails (normally notifications about a recent death of an ex colleague) to all of the following sub-groups (number of entrants in brackets):
XTTV-All(a-bre) (42)
XTTV-All(brf-cz) (43)
XTTV-All(d-ez) (39)
XTTV-All(f-haj) (43)
XTTV-All(hall-jn) (44)
XTTV-All(jof-mam) (38)
XTTV-All(man-nev) (41)
XTTV-All(new-rd) (38)
XTTV-All(re-ss) (45)
XTTV-All(st-u)) (44)
XTTV-All(v-Z) (40)
However, yesterday, as soon as I enter any of those groups into my 'To' box, my 'Send' box is greyed out (using Mozilla Thunderbird)!
I've always used Mozilla Thunderbird, but felt that it is might be PlusNet that is causing this. However, PlusNet say that it is not their problem. I really want to reinstate my normal ability to send these really important announcements out, which enable ex-colleagues to get to funerals, etc.?
My guess is that, perhaps, these groups have been 'Blacklisted' somewhere, as I can still Send to many other groups and all individuals.

Re: Can't Send emails to some of my email groups
As an experiment you could duplicate one of those mailing lists in PlusNet webmail and see if it has the same problem. Email providers tend to be stricter about email clients than webmail. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Con ... s_you_sent for some other tests you could run to see if your recipients are being blacklisted.
You could also sign up for a Gmail account, and register your PlusNet email address with Gmail webmail as a additional From address. If you do that you could re-configure your PlusNet account to use the Gmail SMTP server, and send using your existing PlusNet email address. That might work around your problem since its possible its not the PlsuNet SMTP server that made the decision to reject the message, it might be one of the recipients mail servers, based on PlusNet's poor reputation. (I know nothing about PlusNet but large ISPs usually have a poor reputation) You'd prefer the SMTP server to send what it can in that situation but some SMTP servers are configured to abort if there is a problem with any of the recipients.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_modeHowever, yesterday, as soon as I enter any of those groups into my 'To' box, my 'Send' box is greyed out (using Mozilla Thunderbird)!

Re: Can't Send emails to some of my email groups
Yes. However, today I tried to send another 'mass' email to the 36 members of another of my email groups, and the same thing happened. So, I typed all of those email addresses in a long string of text but separated by a comma into a word processor, then copied it and pasted it into the Bcc box, and that same email was sent successfully.DanRaisch wrote:Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? ht ... fe_modeHowever, yesterday, as soon as I enter any of those groups into my 'To' box, my 'Send' box is greyed out (using Mozilla Thunderbird)!
So, for some reason, trying to import any email group frtom the Thunderbird address book, which has worked for many years, has suddenly started not working. Thus, something has changed within Thunderbird from around 1-3 months ago.

Try changing the name of one or more of those mailing lists, removing the hyphens and parentheses, perhaps replacing them with underscores to see if Thunderbird has changed to reject those characters.
