Trying to Sync Thunderbird with GoogleDrive

Hey folks, I've been considering changing my profile location to keep it on my Google Drive (works the same like Dropbox I believe) and came across this thread when searching about it.

I'm just wondering how you're all getting on with having had your profile set up this way? I posted the same question here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1164965 and the only reply so far has been someone saying it's not advisable, but they don't go into any detail as to why?

I see here they say about editing the profile.ini : http://lifehacker.com/5805828/how-to-sy ... -computers and this seems to be how the OP did it, but others say to delete it and then repoint thunderbird to the location of the profile, is this still a better option than editing the ini file?

Would appreciate any feedback on whether anyone has run into any issues having the profiles on the cloud

I see a moderator has created a new topic for this. I was hoping it would be posted to the old one so the older posters may get notified of new replies and be able to help, but no worries. But just on the subject posted for this new thread, it's Google Drive, not One Drive, which I believe is Microsoft. Probably all the same, but just incase. Thanks

Given that length of time it's quite possible that the original posters wouldn't see that new post or that they aren't even members here anymore; with the possible exception of the moderator who replied back then.

Well, looks like there's going to be a MUCH easier solution to this coming very soon (tomorrow??), Google Drive will now be offering folder selection from within Windows, so not relying on one "Drive" where everything will have to be placed to sync. It was the same with SugarSync who I've stopped using now. This will definitely shake things up!
