I don't know how it did it, but Thunderbird lost almost all my wife's emails today. What's extremely baffling is that their also gone from the IMAP server.
They are still available in the local mail folder in the Thunderbird profile, but I can't restore them in Thunderbird. Tried ImportExportTools and Mozbackup.
If I try repairing the folder in Thunderbird the 300-400 MB folders are shrunk down to about 1 MB, so only containing the new emails that are still there.
Is there any way to restore these emails? I can access them with a text editor, but that is very tiresome work when talking about 400 MBs of text...

Do you mean that they are found under Thunderbird's Local Folders structure or files in the \IMAPMail directory for the account? They are still available in the local mail folder in the Thunderbird profile
