Removing addresses from the "To" drop-down list

Post by Enigman »

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to remove an e-mail address from the drop-down list of addresses that comes up as soon as you start to type an address into the "To" field?

I mistyped an address long ago when sending an e-mail and now that bad address keeps coming up in the drop-down list. I searched my mail and the bad address does not occur in any saved mail, soooo I don't know where the drop-down is getting the bad address address as a suggestion.

Thanks.

Hi,
Not too sure about this but...
have you tried highlighting the errant entry & hitting the Delete key?
It's possible that the addy is in either the Personal &/or the Collected Address/s.

If the above does not rectify the error then wait for a Thunderbird guru.
( I ain't one.) :)

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

Thanks but that does not work. First thing I tried. Pressing delete just takes the bottom item off the list temporarily. You can press delete until the entire list is gone, but the list comes back the next time you type in the box.

Thanks.

Bingo. It turns out it was a rogue entry in the address book. I never directly use the address book so I never thought to go there. Deleted the book entry and that did it.

Thanks.
