Spam sign

Post by OZO »

When hMailServer finds, that mail is a spam, it adds "X-hMailServer-Spam: YES" to its header.
How make Tundergird to show that message is a spam?

Se http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Con ... nd_SpamPal . You can configure it to trust SpamAssassin and edit the SpamAssassin.sfd file to check for "X-hMailServer-Spam: YES". It won't care that its actually hMailServer setting the custom header.

Thank you, @tanstaafl

I don't use neither SpamAssassin nor SpamPal. But I've created filter, that should work in this case.

In Match all of the following click on Customize and in New message header enter "X-hMailServer-spam", then edit contains field as "YES". In Perform these action I've added Set Junk Status to - Junk.

Now I have to wait until hMS flags some message as spam to see how it works. And because spammers do not send their trash by my request, I'll have to wait until it happens naturally and it may take a while to see how it works... ;)

You can use the HeaderToolsLite add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... ools-lite/ to edit the contents of an existing message. In your case you could modify the value of that header rather than wait for one that is detected as spam, to see how well it works.

What a good idea. I never thought it's even possible... Thanks for the tip :)

I've changed header of a test message to test this new filter and it works!
That could save a lot of time in testing filters...
